How improvise guitar solos ?

Well G&R solo lines borrowed from blues rock riffs so you're probably not too far from that style. Your best bet is to learn solos from other genres outside of blues and then try to incorporate those riffs into your soloing. Just the same, Floyd is a category onto themselves. Unless the songs your band is playing are originals that sound along those lines, you're probably not going to sound Floyd-ish.

Today I watched Empire Records, the story of a group of coming of age teens trying to save the record store they work in. The second film is of course High Fidelity with John Cusack trying to figure out why his love life is such a mess while running a record store. Good Xbox 360 games Worth Buying OR PC GAMES?

Dragon Age I & II are by the same people as Mass Effect. I'm actually in the middle of the second one right now, and so far neither games have disappointed me (actually, I'm in love with them :P). It has demons in it, if that's what you mean by demonic. If you don't like demons, though, i wouldn't recommend it. It's still an awesome game, nonetheless. Fable 2 and 3 are also awesome, and as for decisions that effect the game, its one of the best in my opinion. Yes, the plot for Fable II is kind of meh-but once you get to the third game, it'll make sense and be worth it. Oblivion is also an awesome game, but your decisions don't have major influence on the outcome of the plot in my opinion. Not like Fallout 3 or New Vegas. The only other game I can think of is the Bioshock games, but it may be too linear for the games you've listed. Bummer you couldn't get into Fallout 3 or New Vegas-Fallout 3 is what sparked my interest in gaming. Most RPG games like these, now that i think of it, have something to do with Apocalypse..hmm. Anyways, I'm no gaming expert, but I hope I gave you some information. I'm trying to not give away too much of each game, so I;m sorry if my answers seem vague :/

What I would do to get better at playing with both hands and faster is to break it down between what each hand plays, then play each hand separately, then slowly play each hand together and continue to build up the speed until each hand and the speed was played perfectly. It's a good thing you're willing to practice because that's really what it takes, plain and simple--that, and patience with yourself.

Why doesn't my toaster properly work?

I had the amazing idea to use my toaster to receive free WiFi. I got an old wire hangar and bent it and used a soldiering gun to soldier it to the heating elements in the toaster. then I cut the power cord open and soldiered an Ethernet cable into the wiring of the power cord and connected the Ethernet cable to my laptop. the toaster still works and everything. so the idea is that when I turn the toaster on and it's cooking, the heat will activate my improvised antenna and the antenna will syphon WiFi from my neighbors router and send the Internet through my toasters power cord and into the Ethernet cable, thus giving me free WiFi. when i attempted to make it work, sparks began wildly shooting off the heating elements and the power cord immediately burst into flames. I don't know what went wrong I'm positive I did it all correctly. what could have gone wrong?

I recommend playing each of the chords on the low three strings first (6,5,4) covering the bass register. Than do the same on the first three strings. Using both the I-IV-V and the ii-V-I will give you a good idea on how arpeggios can function to develop a unique melody and bass line. Once you have developed some coordination within the basic shapes than you can combine different bass and treble "arps" together to create "custom voicings" Try playing a I chord in the bass register and switch to a IV chord in the treble register. Then play a ii chord in the bass and switch to a V chord in the treble. This is an example of combining arpeggios to create interesting melodic ideas.

What to do when Fable 2 is stuck on a loading screen?

It's not just any loading screen. It's the Nightmare Hollow loading screen in particular. I'm trying to do the quest that requires me to sleep in the bed in Brightwood Tower, but no matter what I do, I cannot enter Nightmare Hollow. The games goes to the loading screen and stays there. I even started another game a a new file hoping it was a one-time glitch, but no luck. Keep in mind, this doesn't happen anywhere else in the game. Just Nightmare Hollow.

Questions about Jazz improvisation for Saxophone?

I'm planning to be a jazz studies major in college and I have an audition with the college's music department next week. I started playing alto saxophone in grade school but didn't really have proper teaching until I reached high school. I'm able to get a pretty decent sound despite my set up (cheap mouth piece;student saxophone). My only worry is the college requires me to improvise on the two jazz tunes I have to play. I just wanted to know if it is absolutely necessary to improvise using the given chords on the sheet music? I know it would be better to stick with what's on the page but with my level of knowledge with chord progression, it's difficult. I find myself "thinking" too much about what notes to play. Do you think with my current knowledge of jazz, I should just play how I feel and see how I can make it work? Also, is there any nice simple patterns I could lean quickly? (By the way, I plan on getting a proper saxophone upon beginning college and I've recently been listening to jazz every single day).

Why does my CD/DVD Drive keep ejecting itself?

For a while now, if I try to remove a disk from d DVD drive of my computer, it won't eject for a long tym until I keep pressing n pressing n pressing, or I improvise a lil by inserting a broom into a small hole on d face of d drive-sth I learnt during engineering class. After a while the drive starts ejecting itself, even if It just booted after days. The action of ejecting itself prevents it from reading CD/DVD's obviously-a real pain in d ***. I never deal with elitists. I leave them alone to deal with their own stubborn perspectives because there's no reforming them. Besides most metal trolls are too ignorant to have a great perception of the genre anyhow, so I forget about them. Their opinions aren't worth it after all. Real metalheads respect the tastes of others (so far as I've seen and heard). In fact, I've met some great guys right here *ahem* not saying that we lack elitist trolls either. Socially, I suffer from the same problem too because I honestly don't look like the sort of person to listen to metal and so people don't take me seriously. I haven't given up on it though because it's my music and my opinion and I'm the only one to judge.

Playing bassoon in the high school band?

I played trumpet for about 3 months in 4th grade and hated it. I played piano from 1st grade to 5th grade but my teacher couldn't teach anymore because he was going back to school. I am in high school now and am fascinated by the bassoon. I love the sound it makes and everything about it. I will practice as much as I need to be great. I learned to ride a unicycle well by practicing for about 2 hours a day last summer (I know too much time on my hands). My point is that I will do anything to succeed at this instrument. If I practice through the summer and get private lessons, can I play in my high school band next fall? They don't have any bassoon players but are always willing to take new members into the band. Can I just find some sort of improvised piece or notes to go along with their playing? Also, how do I go about finding out if I can do this?

PC Game Running Choppy?

I may be the odd man out on this subject but i feel that the background noise and changes in filtering and how they clean-up the recordings just suck. and dont even get my started on ad-libbing, or improvising, or changing the style or tempo.

What pyschological problem do I have?

Hi everybody! Ok I so am a 21 year old female and having some trouble in school. Lately, I have noticed (well since I was a child) that when I have to read out loud I will end up forgetting to say some words. For instance if I had to read "See Jane run, oh how fast." I would say "See Jane, oh how fast" and I would end up having to read it again or improvise lol. I have trouble with typing, I can type very fast but have to always go backspace because I forget a letter or misspelled a word. I also have extremely poor penmanship or dysgraphia unless I take my absolute time I can write legible and neat. My whole life I would always have to rewrite everything because my teachers could never be able to read my papers. I know for a fact that I have a mathematics dyslexia because I have a horrible time with math, physics and get the symbols confused and I believe it is called dyscalculia? Even with my difficulties, my strongest subject is english and creative writing. I wonder if I might even have some form of autism since I do not like to be social and tend be selfish? I don't want to be because I do love people but I don't want to be around people or have guests over and prefer to be alone and have always been a little unsocial but I am trying to break out of my shell smile at everyone and welcome everyone. The only reason I am asking all these crazy questions is because it is getting in the way of my studies and with all the rewriting and double rechecking is taking forever to write an essay lol. I hope no one thinks I am crazy or over analyzing myself but I would like to know what could possibly be holding me back? Despite all this, I am trying to become a better person. I think you'd be a good teacher!! You can share your creativity with others, teach AND learn from them! You don't have to stay still in a classroom all the time! Am I on track to be a proffessional golfer?

I am 13 and play golf every day I can which is usually five times a week. I shoot right around 80 from the tips at my home course( which is 7000 yards with a 72.9 rating). I can only drive the ball 200 yards because i have not hit my growth spurt but am about to go on a rigorous workout schedule that a trainer guarantees to add 25 yards to your game. I have a great short game, i can get up and down from almost anywhere. I average 26.7 putts a round. I believe I have the mental aspect of the game down because I have read ( the better word is worshipped ) all of Bob Rotellas books. One last thing, pressure does not get to me. Every day I hit 50 putts from a distance of 10 ft+ while playing a mind game with myself about having to make this putt to force a playoff in the U.S Open, and i make maybe twenty of them, the same amount I would make just casually putting the ball. I recently played with 2 club pros, one a former pga tour player. I played the mens tees so I could keep up with them, and found myself having a good round despite feeling pressure to perform well. On the last hole I was tied with both of them, and misclubbed myself, dumping a pitching wedge in the front bunker, knowing I had to get up and down I looked down to find the worst lie youve ever seen. But I stepped into the bunker, improvised on how to play the shot, and miraculously holed , to tie. I was so nervous during that entire time playing with the pros. Thanks for your insight

My friend just got Fable and we cannot join eachothers game. It says "You cannot join this game because you do not have the same downloadable content as the host" but we checked and we have the same things including Free Weapons Pack. Plus my other friends who do not have the same dlc, it still allows us to play together.

Piano/guitar improvisation trouble?

I started piano when i was around 5, and didn't take it serious until around 8 or 9 or so, I'm 17 now, and I haven't played for a year or so. The reason for this is that I find myself simply not knowing what to play, i consider myself to be a fairly accomplished piano player, but I have such difficulty "letting go" so to speak. I started guitar when I was 10 and I have the same issues as I did with piano. I'm starting to slow down how much i play guitar because I'm running out of things to play, I can only play so many of my favorite songs so many times until it's boring. I'm better at improvising on my guitar, but there's only so much I can do until I just think "well.. what else?". I'm afraid I'm going to lose the desire to play both instruments, and I feel like they're both extremely important things to know how to do for the future. What could a male teenager do about his weight?

I hate being fat. I am a fourteen year old guy, 5-11, and 238lbs. I dont have access to a gym, gym equipment, I don't even have anything to use to substitute or improvise. My 18-year-old brother is so discriminative about me being obese, so I don't feel like doing anything. The issue may very well be the incomplete file transfer, but if it showing up in your computer folder as a complete file then you might have something left to salvage. Make sure that the computer is using the correct codecs (basic drivers to run A/V tracks) and that it can open other files from the camera with no issues. If it is opening other files well enough then you know that there is a file corruption error. Attempt to run a disk check on the SD card chkdsk (SD):\, and otherwise there are probably hundred dollar programs out there to salvage digital media files. I would just be glad you didn't lose the SD disk too.

I don't have much experience outside of routine maintenance of late model vehicles. I can be handy and can usually improvise. I would reccommend fallout if you don't already have it. There is also a Dynasty warrior sub-series called Dynasty Warriors Gundam which is (as the name implies) Dynasty warriors but in the Gundam Universe. Minecraft is also an amazing game on the PC which you should get if your one of the few who hasn't played it. And if you enjoy RPGs due to them beingnon linear and open world may I reccommend Just Cause 2. HUGE map and freedom to do anything makes it one great game.

I know that they require you to sight read in the audition. I have less than a year to learn SOMETHING, and i'm afraid i wouldn't get accepted because i know nothing about reading music. No, there isn't. It just depends on how much breathing space a director gives the actors. The director Mike Leigh actually has actors improvise whole films. He has a general plot outline, but none of the dialogue is scripted. (Ironically, he got nominated for a best screenplay oscar last year, even though he hadn't used a script- they just recorded what the actors said afterward)

Why do people like Goodfellas so much?

I mean no disrespect to Martin Scorcese or anyone that does like it, I just wasn't a fan. It's amassed a fairly large cult following, has received very positive reviews, and multiple awards sure enough, but I just didn't like it that much. For starters, to me it lacked a central plotline; it was just mobsters doing what mobsters do and it followed the true story pretty much to a t leaving little room for creative improvisation. I don't really care much for realism in movies; I just enjoy escaping from reality to see something that the world isn't. I know it was based off of a true story, but even Casino (another Scorcese film) was based off a true story and it managed to improvise a bit, as such I enjoyed it a lot more. Secondly, Lorraine Bracco; I'd be lying if I said I enjoyed her performance very much, though the rest of the acting wasn't bad. To me she lacks emotion in her acting; that aside her character was very uninteresting to me; she just whines about how much she hated her husband even though he refused to leave him, and even ended up enabling his drug habits. This was another category where I belive Casino was superior; aside from the fact that Sharon Stone (the correlating wife figure) is an incredible actress in general, her character was actually interesting; she made me hate her, and if an actress can make you hate her character she's done her job in my opinion; Lorraine Bracco's character was just annoying. Anyway, that's just my opinion; feel free to leave yours.

I never do this ... I usually plan but today I needed dinner and I didnt have much in my fridge and eating out is not a option as a vegan ... but I had "chiles de arbol", 1/2 a green bell pepper , 1/2 of a zuchinni, 1/3 purple onion, and 1/4 white onion ... I cut all of these so they were about 3/4 of a inch and all about the same shape I added like 1/4 of a chile finely chopped, coated all the veggies in extra virgin olive oil amassed pepper and sea salt and just tossed them into a very hot non stick skillet and bam I had great dinner, in the middle of my meal I realized that I had some homemade ferried beans my mom made when she came over so I heated 1/2 a cup of those up and ate them with the rest of my meal and honesly made the meal better, it didn't taste like it didn't belong because of the chile ... I might just improvise more often! ... just wanted to know if you guys have ever done it and if it was good ... thanks :)

Why isn't necrophilia legal if given consent?

If a person is to give consent pre-disease to another individual to have sexual intimacy with their body, why is it illegal? Laws only affect property and living people. If the person before death signs a legal document stating someone can, the arguements I've heard is because the person is a corpse and cannot give consent, but if you think about it, how do wills work then? It's consent to give away your property to others, and your body is your property. You can say it's immoral to commit necrophilia, but itn't it just as immoral to take away constitution rights based on other people morals when two or more people agree upon necrophilia? Isn't it also equally immoral to judge others based on their sexual attractions, but taking their rights away from them? Corpses have no rights, and yet wills apply, and necrophilia is a victimless crime. If it affects family members, why isn't pornography illegal if it affects how the person family feels, despite giving consent to the producers to be in the film? I dont really see the big deal. I think it's more wrong in fact to judge people based on sexual attractions, take away their rights, and make exceptions to our rights to fit to the moral code of our general society when none of those people are directly affected by it, in which case everything in life should be illegal since anything could theoretically indirectly affect another person negatively.

Weird burning in my leg?

I was sitting in my chair (a lawn chair improvised as a desk chair) watching a video when I had this extremely painful burning on the back of my left leg, just above the knee. It was as if the edge of my chair had suddenly became burning hot, because the only part that hurt was the part touching the edge of the chair. The pain faded away over the course of about twenty minutes, but it was still painful to the touch for the rest of the night. There were no marks that I could see. Does anyone have any idea what could have caused it?

I would say yes and no. His whole goal with marrying Isabella was to have a child with her so that the child would inherit Thrushcross Grange. Is it bad that I do this for my depression?

Ok so I also have depression and I do a similar thing with my favorite shows, you know watching them a lot. For me personally it's an escape because the world in the show is so much better and more exciting than my boring life. Yeah it's weird but it's not really hurting my life, I'm "active" and I don't sit around all day. I usually just do this if I'm in "depression mode and feeling partially bad. Do I have decent ears or am I just not formally taught?

I am just really asking this so maybe I can know whether I have been moving to the correct direction since I started guitar. I have been playing the guitar for 5 years but I have always been self taught, but throughout my life even before I started guitar I have been improvising to songs in my mind whenever I hear a song that catches my senses. So when I picked up the guitar I immediately began by improvising to songs, but with a guitar instead of humming or imagine the notes in my mind. Sometimes when I really like a part of a song that wasn't too technical or quick I just played it on the guitar right away and it sounded pretty identical and at the exact pitch. I basically started "composing" shorty later when I got a little bit more familiar with the "patterns and feeling of notes" which were really music theory that I now know of. After I got comfortable with the technical side I started looking up the internet about music theory and noticed that they were really things I already knew but couldn't identify previously. Since then the only thing I did was "compose" and sometimes I would improvise with a song I really like, because if I were to play a song "tab for tab" I thought I would rather listen to the song. Gradually I could jump around a scale in my head in different octaves meanwhile my technical sense for the location of a note on the fret would lag behind. Sometimes I would purposely play a note that sounds "wrong" or doesn't belong to a scale and try to make sense out of it and see if I can fit it into an "atmosphere" and make a riff out of it. I always like to associate a musical piece with an image and "atmosphere" or mood, and often with colors or textures, which helps when I try to make something or guess the intention or rationale of the artist of a song. On top of guitar I played piano briefly when I was little and if it matters I also sometimes imitate playing a bass by detuning my guitar and amp. I always had a mixed feeling that I might have well trained/born ears and at the same time I would guess everyone is pretty much similar, but that extra bit of guidance that the teacher-taught players have makes me question about the way I approached learning the guitar. It would be an insight for me if you can provide your thoughts or opinions about my approach even if they're short and brief, so I might be able to also see from other people's perspective and get a better view of the complete picture. Any other "artists" have no sense of creativity or originality?

Creativity is something you can learn, so don't worry. Also, there are a lot of art jobs that involve doing what you are good at (copying, making work designed by others). Artists look for inspiration, so you need to live life, meet new people, look at/ listen to/ experience more art, and learn new things. Most creativity comes out of solving problems (making things work) and some artists like to to exercises to practice this. One that I think is fun is to write down a bunch of words, put them into a pile of concrete things (people, places, things, physical attributes) and abstract things (emotions, personality traits, invisible things) pick two from each pile, discard one you don't like, and make a work of art about the 3 remaining words. Another good practice is to come up with at least 30 ideas/sketches before deciding what your work of art will be about. that means 30 ideas based around 1 or 2 concepts. so, say you want to base ur work of art on a certain topic, like trees, and you think u want it to be about growth or maybe family, so stay focused on trees and growth or trees and family for every one of ur 30 drawings. really focus in on what you want and then do it as many different ways as you can... and then do 10 more. usually the last 10 are the most interesting.

What is the point of an indie film if you need a star and you can't sell it without one and also, financing and making contacts to get production rolling?

Yes, If a scale is in "D" then the scale will start with D. You also need to know if it is major of minor, because that is important. If you want to improvise, then you simply need to play the note that are in that scale and no others as a beginning improviser. If you are improvising with others try to stick with the 1st, 3rd, and 5th notes in a scale. This will make it easier for someone else to solo over you. Also, try to avoid the 7th note in the scale unless you plan on playing the 1st note right after it. Trust me, this will make it sound better and "more right". I hope this helps you.

U should be ok, try gettin a phenom2 x4 965 thought. If u do get a athlon don't expect very high framerates. If u have a high end graphics card, its gonna send a lot of data to ur cpu if u have a slow cpu I will end up bottlenecking the card. How do I take the step up?

o I live in NC and have an agent. I have been sent out for a lot of stuff already after a few months so I think I will build up my resume pretty fast. I was thinking after I get several film/TV/commercial/print credits I'm hoping to go (move) to California and try to take it to the next level. But how would I get there? Would I just tell my agent that and see what she says, then move? Or would I have to wait until I get something there and then move there? Also hopefully if I moved there I'd be SAG/AFTRA. What should I do after I have a big resume? Because I'll want to move up.

How can I help my husband with his audition? And should I?

My husband is a performer and more recently he got a big role in two films (he's been a performer for more than 20 years). He decided about 4 months ago, that he wanted to go for an audition at a very famous acting school in NY to get a MA (or something like that). It's a big deal, but I'm pretty sure he hasn't prepared properly. He's learned a scene from a play, but he didn't get any acting coaches or anything to go over it with him, he's only got the words down in his head (I'm no expert but I think you should know what your gonna do physically in general when you're going to perform). Improvised sleeping gear?

I'm looking to acquire some good camping gear that will help me contend with the frequently rainy conditions around here. I hike light so I pack a hammock and parka/tarp instead of a tent which leaves no room for a sleeping bag. Are there any particular articles of clothing I could pack for camp use that would keep me warm and dry? I was thinking a winter parka and some ski pants might do the trick but that sounds like it may be a little too much. I guess what I'm ultimately aiming for is a "sleeping suit" if you will, to use with my hammock and tarp. Any suggestions?

Personally, I loved it. It was a very fantastic movie in my opinion and I felt like watching the story of my own life while watching the film. A ruling for The Fabled Unicore (Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG)?

I heard that monsters that negate effects have a spell speed of 2.5. If that's true, that would mean, for example, fabled Unicore couldn't negate counter traps. The OCG rulings say that it can, but OCG and TCG can have some very different rulings. Anyway, what spell speed is a monster that (Unicore especially) negates cards? Can Unicore negate cards like Solemn Judgement/Divine Wrath/Seven Tools? That's obviously assuming both players have the same number of cards in their hands so that Unicore can negate.

Different types of guitar phrasing?

When i used to take lessons my guitar teacher told me about the 3 main types of phrasing when improvising(blues mostly). This included the call and response, but i forget the other two. I know there are different types of phrases, but i wanted to try to figure out what the other two were. And dont tell me "just feel it" or anything like that, because i alraedy do. The problem is mostly my playing is call and response, and i need to spice it up. I dont like rules but i think of them more as guidelines in a way.

I always have this problem, i get so nervous that i'm going to fail. I've been working so hard and everybody agrees but when it comes to the exam because it's a CORE 2 exam the questions are phrased strangely and sometimes after reading through them i have a heart attack and my brain explodes (meaning it's quite hard to think logically) but with the core 1 exam I read through it and thought wow this looks hard but i can do this and used logical stufff. Ermmm well it depends what kind of job you want. Film/media could maybe lead to working in the media? Law would probably be good, but you have to be very good as it is so competitive. International relations could maybe lead to something in politics or the UN. Out of these, i'm guessing that law is the best paid, having said that if you got a really high up job in media that could be even better. I'm not really sure. Which A levels do you do and what grades are you looking at getting? :)

Should I buy a Nikon N2020 or stick with my Canon AE-1 Program? Any recommendations for FILM CAMERAS?

I like the N2020 because it has AF so I think that's cool.. I currently have a Canon AE-1 SLR Program camera which is pretty cool, but i dislike always having to focus it manually.. is it really worth buying a N2020? I heard it's really slow when it's trying to get it's subtle focus.. I'm just a beginner not looking to be a professional of some sort, I just want to take pretty cool live shots of bands at shows to put on my blog... I'd rather have a film camera than a digital one.. i hate digital. Should I go ahead and buy a N2020? Would it make a difference other than the AF? If yes, lenses? What are some cheap alright lenses for a N2020? If you have any recommendations on film cameras let me know! :)

What do you think of my guitar playing?

Its ok. I think you need to put in a lot more work though. I am very hard to impress sometimes due to the amount of time I have invested and my own personal level of creativity. I may be to harsh but its my personal opinion. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate you a 4. That's due to comparing you to guitar players I have played with. Some can do magic and make you move and feel emotions that are way out. Good luck on your path.
