Fable 2 knothole island question.?

Ok. Here's a really dumb question. First of all, I haven't made it to knothole island. I'm a few things away. I was reading on one of the message boards about the down loadable knothole island quest. Now. Do I have to download this ice quest, or will I be able to finish the game without it?
