Getting Into Berklee College of Music?

My boyfriend is an excellent musician and has been playing guitar since he was little. He does really well when it comes to improvising, playing by ear, and creating original pieces, etc. However, when he was in high school (2 years ago) the band teacher never helped him out when it came to note reading (as he could play by ear very well) He really is talented and has a strong passion for music. He's looking to apply to Berklee for the spring semester but is a little nervous about sight reading. Does anyone know how much emphasis is placed on reading music? and if he does very well playing during his audition, will they cut a little bit of slack if his note reading isn't extremely good? Also, does anyone know exactly what the acceptance rate for Berklee is?
