Is it possible to combine the output of 2 AC 6Volts Dynamo by converting it first into DC?

And instead of a regulated 6volts after passing from a voltage regulator, Could it be possible to change it into 12volts so that it can charge a 12 v battery? ....Our school is requiring us to have some researchers on how to improvised something that could be beneficial.
