How did the French feel about the film Marie Antoinette?

I'm not sure, what the reaction actually was in France, but i have heard that it was generally rated low because of how much American popular culture was integrated into the history. The french revolution was a dark time in french history and i assume that the french would not appreciate the minimal depiction of the revolution and the focus in fashion.
